Hey people I'm here to post again. So we had Literature this week and it was kind of intersting cause we started on a new topic which is Romeo & Juliet.
So on Monday we started on a new topic which is said already,"Romeo & Juliet".I kind of like that the story but it had a sad end to it.Anyway we watched the whole of act 1 scene 5.To tell you the truth,I presonal think this secne is too romantic for me.Its about Romeo seeing Juliet for the first time and describes her apperance and how he feels towards her.
"Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!
It seems she hangs upon the cheek of the night
Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope's ear,
Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear.
So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows
As yonder aldy o'er her fellows shows.
The measure done, I'll watch her place of stand,
And, touching hers, make blessed mt rude hand.
Did my heart love till now? Foesewearit, sight!
For I never saw true beauty till this night."
I think this line that Romeo said really reflects him as a romantic person. And he fell in love in frist sight. So after going through the scene, we were paired and were given a worsheet to a character. We had to on on Romeo. Some had to do on Juliet, Lord Capulet and Tyblat.Once we had finish the worsheet we are suppose to combine our answers and make it into a mindmap with four of our answers and hand in up on monday. So thats What we did on Monday.
Now for Friday. On Friday, we had two lessons, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. In the morning, we continued our lesson on Romeo & Juliet. We also did a workseet on Imagery (Testing for Understanding). Its about Juliets beauty. We elborated on these there phrases, "Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!", "It seems she hangs upon the cheek of the night Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope's ear." and "So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows As yonder aldy o'er her fellows shows".
The first phase "Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!" is Romeo saying that Juliet 'teaches the torch to bur bright'.He is simply saying that she is brighter than the torch and symbolises beauty.
The second phase "It seems she hangs upon the cheek of the night Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope's ear." means night is imagined by Romeo to have a personification meaning that night is given human charateristics.
And the last phase is to be done as homework and thats the end for our morning Lit lesson.
Now for the afetrnoon lesson. We went to the Movers and Shakers Gallery do do a worksheet on our founding fathers.Thats what we basically did the whole lesson. Its really a intersting to know more about our founding fathers and how they contributed to the nation.
So this is the and of my reflection for this weeks Literature.
